Winona-Ryder
Winona Ryder (born Winona Laura Hornowitz) was born in Winona Minnesota. Her parents named her for the town she grew up in. Her father Michel Horowitz and her mother Cynthia Palmer were authors and editors. Ryder's father is from a Jewish family. Ryder thinks she's Jewish. The actress has a younger brother Uria as well as two half siblings Jubal and Sunyata. At the age of seven, Ryder was only seven her family moved to Mendocino County California. There they didn't have electricity. Ryder was a voracious read and often spent her time studying books since there was no TV. Ryder started taking acting classes at the American Conservatory Theatre when she was 12 years old. In 1986 she was offered her first big-screen role in the film Lucas when she was just 15 years old. Ryder was bullied in high school. Her acting career, she hoped, would help her. Unfortunately, that did not take place. The actress continued to chase her goals. Her big break came in 1988 with Tim Burton's Beetlejuice. Ryder continued playing roles that were successful in several movies. In 1993, she received an Oscar Award to be awarded for The Age of Innocence.
